Let’s face it, life is hard, no matter who you talk to that will be the common theme in a conversation. But, that doesn’t mean you can’t face life’s struggles with a multitude of coping mechanisms in your back pocket. We can create a positive path together whether you struggle with Anxiety, Depression, Life Stressors, Relationships or you just want someone with a great listening ear. My vision as a student counselor is to offer new perspectives on your life situations, and work with you to improve how you see and interact with the world around you. While we build a toolkit of strategies for your unique experience, there will be learning and work that only you can achieve, but as a helper in this process, I hope to offer new ways of thinking and of building stronger habits that empower you.
To this end, we will work on seeing your whole self, someone who is a part of different social systems, someone who has lived a range of experiences, and has picked up different values and virtues along the way. Our process will be one that challenges you, but that challenge will be on your own terms. With respect to your dignity, decisions, and unique background, goals can be made and achieved that bring you a productive sense of yourself and offer more control over the life you wish to live.
I specialize in working with individuals who have a history of trauma, utilizing evidence-based approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Play Therapy and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). I am certified in DBT and trained in addressing Perinatal/Postnatal mood disorders and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I)
