Under the No Surprises Act, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining how much your mental health care will cost.
A Good Faith Estimate shows the expected costs of items and services for mental health care services provided to individuals who are uninsured or who choose not to use insurance. The estimate is based on information known at the time the estimate is created.
Your Good Faith Estimate does not include any unknown or unexpected costs that may arise during treatment. You may be charged more if complications or special circumstances occur. If this happens, federal law allows you to dispute the bill.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you may dispute the bill. You have the right to request a Good Faith Estimate before scheduling services or at any time during treatment.
